About
Paola Idrontino launched Papayapie in 2005 with the intention of exploring ways of highlighting and dramatizing the natural silhouette of the body using accessories.
Her inspiration comes from handicraft methods, bizarre costumes, jabots, frills and the beauty within nature.
While growing up in Italy, she developed a strong fascination for sewing and crafts and began creating sculptures from whatever she could get her hands on.
In 1997, she moved to London and spent more than ten years working in visual art and design, eventually completing her degree at Central St Martins College. Some of her design work can be viewed on her webpage paolaidrontino.co.uk.
